I'm attorney Daniel Izquierdo of the Izquierdo Law Firm and the answer is very simple. You should never consent to a search. There are some exceptions where law enforcement could search your vehicle, but you should never voluntarily consent to them searching your vehicle. If you give consent, they might find something. Secondly, they could lie about what they find and plant evidence. So, you should never, under any circumstances, give your consent to have your car searched.
